Can I get insurance if I have had a criminal conviction?

There’s no beating around the bush. We all make mistakes. We are human after all. But how does that impact future insurance policies?

Good question! If you have a criminal conviction, the reality is you MIGHT be able to get insurance. It all comes down to the nature of the crime. For example, have you had a fraud or assault conviction against your name? If yes, we’re sorry to say that we are not able to assist and you will struggle to find an insurance company willing to cover you.

But, if your conviction is something like a minor drug possession charge or a traffic offense, we have had luck getting some people over the line in securing insurance coverage. It all comes down to the nature of the crime.

Many in the industry are not naive enough to think that everyone is perfect and have never made a mistake, but there are times when those mistakes can limit progressing forward in your business or home ventures.

As much as the situation may have occurred years prior, it can be difficult for insurance companies to trust the name on paper and hope for a changed person.

If you’re not sure what your chances are, let’s chat. There is no judgment, and here at Clutterbuck Insurance Brokers, we will do our best to secure the right policy for you.

Organise to chat with a member of our team here.
